Bhaga Video Productions: About

This site is devoted to film making and photography. We have been involved with still photography
since 1963. We started film making in 1970 with the purchase of our first of 3 Super8 movie film
cameras. Today we do very little filming and are devoted to working with the films and videos of
our clients, turning them into memories.

In the past watching our "home movies" meant waiting for the sun to go down, hauling out the film
projector, setting up the movie screen and crossing fingers that the bulb didn't burnout or the film
didn't jam and burn a hole in uncle Joe!

In 1970 only large companies and NASA Apollo Spacecraft had computers. Non Linear Editing (NLE)
wasn't even an idea. Hand cranked editing machines with a blade to cut the film and a splicer that
taped the film together was the order of the day. When the sound film came out the editing
became more difficult because the audio was a couple of seconds behind the picture in physical
location. If you cut too soon you lost part of the sound but that made for bad visual edits. Nothing
you could do about that. Years later we made the transition to video and were editing on 2inch
tape. In those days the equipment cost a fortune but you could do amazing things compared to
8mm cut & splice.

Then along came NLE which changed the way everyone edits. At first you still needed a lot of
money to buy the computer necessary to capture video and play it back while editing but with
todays computers some type of editing is within most peoples means.

We encourage everyone to take their old films and videos and convert them to digital video and
then have fun with the editing process. If you already own a digital camera get started turning
your home movies into entertaining clips or short films. Have fun and don't be afraid to
experiment. At BVP we always add a little something extra to our videos that was not originally
recorded. If you don't have the time or equipment to do this on your own Bhaga Video Productions
